Chokhi Dhani

Saturday 17, 2011
I got an invite for a ‘Wedding Anniversary party of Shailesh & Neelam’ at a Chokhi Dhani a Rajasthani village theme restaurant. It is more of a cultural place rather than a regular restaurant. There are Rajasthani folk dance shows, camel rides etc. There is also a Rajasthani style house out there which they use to demonstrate how life in the desert is like.
What’s that, I asked the host shailesh. I was told the party starts at 6 pm on Saturday and expected to wind up 11 Pm. n only few buddies are invited around 8-10 including Saish n Devika. Well, I decided at that very moment that I was going to reach there at 6pm on Saturday and then see how it went but some delayed by santosh I decided to go late. Chokhi Dhani Village party gr8 idea, no matter how fun it sounds, seems too forced to me.

We reach @8pm. Chokhi Dhani has a lot of activities that appeal to all age groups where they will find something to be entertained by. Puppet shows, camel rides, bullock-cart, rural giant, wheels, songs and dances and also small stalls selling wooden and other Indian handicrafts are a few of the entertainments that Chokhi Dhani offers.

There are also small shops selling village stalls and toys that test strength and skill. Palmists, Astrologers and a fortune-telling parrot entertain visitors by making predictions while snake charmers and magic shows will appeal to children of all ages. Women can buy colorful bangles and get their hands decorated with mehendi from the handicraft stalls

Inspired by a small village in Rajasthan, Chokhi Dhani, the resort spread on six acres of land near Kalyan Bhiwandi, is the ideal destination for those who wish to experience the authentic food and the folk culture of Rajasthan.

The delicacies available at Chokhi Dhani are for those who are willing to experiment and try the authentic flavour of Rajasthani food.

“People from places such as Thane, Kalwa, Kalyan, Dombivili, Ulhasnagar and Ambarnath visit the place to taste the scrumptious Rajasthani food and to watch the different shows conducted at Chokhi Dhani. Along with the food and entertainment, the visitors are also charmed by the artefacts on display,” says manager of Chokhi Dhani.

“Camel rides are the major attractions at Chokhi Dhani. It is also the most preferred destination for school picnics. The ambience, the recreated rural feel complimented by delectable food makes the experience worth for money.”

Indisputably, Chokhi Dhani proves to be the place where one can enjoy the Rajasthani folk culture and gorge on Rajasthani cuisine, while spending quality time with family and friends.

Get back at 11.30 pm n rush to sleet. I fell asleep. With a smile on my face. It was so refreshing to hang out with Friends.

Something I'll never forget for a long time. My Choki Dhani village experience was a vibrant and invigorating one and I enjoyed myself getting soaked in the authentic culture of Rajasthan.

@ 8am The sun was rising when.. Ah Sunday...how I have missed you.
